Analysis

Pricing and market analysis

Price is the hardest line in a tender. Set it too high and you lose on the comparison figure; set it too low and you win a contract you have to live with for four years. Both errors can be calculated away before the tender is submitted.

What the analysis is built on

We find price points from comparable recent procurements, chosen on the basis of the procurement in front of you. At the same time we assess which suppliers are expected to bid, and analyse the price levels of those who are your actual competitors.

Then we bring in the evaluation model. That is the step that tends to surprise: in a value-added model the quality criteria are priced in kronor, and the deductions can be worth more than the entire price cut you are considering. If quality can be converted into more than you were planning to charge, cutting price is the wrong strategy. We have a case where the client won with clearly the highest price of all tenderers.

You stay anonymous

A review of this kind requires someone to request records, read award decisions and follow up with authorities. We stand as the sender in that contact, so nobody sees that you are surveying the market.

Standalone or as part of the tender

We always do a pricing and market analysis for the procurements we work on within an ongoing collaboration. It can also be bought separately, for example when you write the tender yourselves but want the pricing checked, or when you are considering a new market and need to know what it is reasonable to ask.

Broader mappings of which authorities buy what you sell we handle in market and competitor research.
